"The Mighty Gwyn"
Memorial Shoot Results and Information
A fantastic turnout for what was the first memorial anniversary shoots for Gwyn “the mighty Gwyn” Rogers, who sadly passed away a year ago. As many of us are aware Gwyn was a well known and regular shooter, instructor, and dear friend as well as a referee in the trap disciplines at SW 2000. His remembrance shall continue each year with this memorial competition. The competition will raise funds through raffles and donations with the proceeds donated to charity and as requested by Gwyn’s family that charity shall be Prostate Cancer Charity.
This year’s amount raised was £371. The entrants were determined to be the first winner of the memorial cup and some stiff competition surely turned up. There were categories for seniors, Veterans, Ladies and juniors; sadly the latter was unsupported as most were competing abroad. However a further shoot for the juniors is to be held on the 19th of July. The ABT Welsh selection and memorial shoot was combined and won by Phil Morgan.
Later in the clubhouse the raffle was drawn, followed by a auction for a nice shirt. Auctioneer come ground owner Mike Amodeo and rival bidder John Henry locked horns in a battle to become the proud owner of a very pricey Browning men’s shirt kindly donated by Mr & Mrs Mattravers. John finally won the battle for the shirt at a handsome £66, all for charity of course and we thank Mr John Henry for his bidding and just hope the shirt fits. All the prizes of cartridges, medals and the memorial cup were donated by Mike & Margaret Amodeo . Mike & Margaret would like to thank all those who donated the money and raffle prizes for the Prostate Cancer Charity and came to the shoot, and of course those who could not attend but donated none the less. See you all next year.
